Silly Peat Monster rules. They have to be the worst rules ever made. You can run a 50" tire which no legal street truck in the state of Illinois can do. But you have to have a license plate, and registration.
So you have a race truck you have to license if you want to take advantage of the class and run 50" tires which you should if you would like the best shot at his class. But leave your race truck stock, just make it tall enough to be illegal on the street??
He Kills me!!! Not another set of rules like it in the country!!(Thank goodness)
Just my .02!!! I could be wrong!!

Although I don't disagree with you. All rules have something that we don't like. I used to run in that class with my old plow truck on 33's. Would normally finish in the top five. I just have to play by them because it is the closest race that has many a year without having to travel as I do enough of it.
I think that he has that class to keep the "race" trucks out of it, but we all know that there are trucks there that are registered and insured just to run that class and see no street time.
Just for some reference place in points / tire size for 300
1. 38 2. 42 3. 38 4. 36 5. 38 6. 36 ? 7. 36 8. ? 9. 44.
In a perfect world all rules would be the same, but that would not set one promoter separate from another. And in some cases the rules are tailored around the local club. I wish it was that easy. We deal with the same in putting on the demo derbies. We have made our rules very similar to others to get more cars.
I am unsure what rules are going to be in place at the new park in Rock Falls. Probably a completely different set, but again close to go to.
By the way I think that we are going to have to call our bet a wash. The parameters have changed as you have uhmmmm a little different power plant I would imagine. LOL You going to make it to INDY? Thinking about going, but I think the race truck will probably stay at home.
Rich, as far as that goes it sucks. I wouldn't change it just for one day. If you can have it at your more local tracks I would just leave it. I have had to take mine off multiple times and I can never get it clean enough even after pressure washing for hours on end. Makes me cringe every time I take it off. Good luck with whatever you decide. By the way I won 500 class last weekend on a set of 38's and a dieing motor. Ran it just to make some test passes and came home with some green.

Jenks I see your point. Just I do hear you wanting to go to other tracks and you can't. I hear that from many other trucks that conformed to Gussies rules. It's a great place pretty good people, but 3/4 of the fun for us is traveling to new tracks seeing both new and old friends. We have about 5 trucks meeting in Brookfield on the 3rd. Then we are having a fifh fry before the race. everyone will share info and new mods then we'll beat on our trucks, put some fast trucks on the trailer. 3 trucks are staying the night in the motel, then we are having breakfast the next morning and all are heading out.
At Indy we have at least 8 trucks meeting. We'll all get together on the BOMB and maybe another after the race Friday and take it around the show truck parade cruise which will be about a 3 hour party trip.(friday after we race) Hang out watch monster trucks Friday night. Saturday late afternoon, we'll have a shrmip, crab and crawdad boil after the bog watch some more racing, then go camp to camp looking at trucks and visiting with racers and try to get to bed before the sun comes up.
Don't give up on the bet. This motor is the same motor you raced at Gussies. Maybe fresher but Lord knows I didn't spend any money on it. I'm using all used bearings, used head gaskets, same cam heads intake carb. Put the cheapest set of "hastings" off the shelf preground rings in it I could fine. I had to buy a new crank but it's the same crank as before. No upgrade. So I don't know why we can't race still?? Heck if anyone has an advantage it's you, your the one who has the high HP gain fixing your problems, you were racing wounded before!! I do kinda have a knack for making things run out of the box like dex and Eugene do so I think it'll come to Indy dialed in for what it is but it's not all that. It's a very cheap throw together motor. I put it all back togther for less than a grand and that's on a blow up! So you know it can't be much. If things go well this winter I'll ditch this vacuum motor and come out with an 850 ho monster(up 200hp) and then we'll start running!!!
Hope to see you at Indy, it'll be a blast!!!

You definitely have a knack for making things run, and run hard that is for sure. I am fine with the bet still being on. I just figured after your last motor you had that you were going to make some changes that's all. Ya the motor has come to life. At springville against tim's top gun truck. Moses beat me by a tenth in pro stock. Now I know that we are not equal in hp, but they are still dialing in the suspension on that truck, and we all know that mine is far from a drag setup. It has a horrible hop. New shocks as well as a suspension upgrade is in the works. Not sure what yet, but something has to change! A three hour parade, hell the pit boss would probably need some dual tanks. Sounds like a good time. I we get to go we will be sure to meat up. Although not a big fan of sea food, but do like a beer now and then. later jenks

Jenks,
Wow your leaning on that red truck. You've made a Big improvement with that carb and the other changes. That last motor I ran was a loaner, small displacement, and small compression. Still ran real hard though!! I'd sure like to have done more but the budget won't allow it. So it's the same motor as you raced against at Gussies. Just fresher.
Well believe it or not there are other things in there that don't cross contaminate. I don't know why, I think it's the old bay seasoning but the potatoes, corn, and sausage do NOT pick up the seafood taste and it all comes out of the same pot. It's crazy but we've been doing it for years and the people that don't like seafood still like the potatoes corn and sausage!!
We also have a gallon of moonshine showing up for that Friday night!!!! Should be a great time!!!!! Think about it. Like I said Chris M. is coming so you'll have someone to tuck you in!!!!LOL
