awful chatty around here lately. Just wanted to say thanks to all the folks who helped me out at the peat monster. Thanks Jeff for the good links and letting my borrow your tires. Glad to see some folks from tonica or lostant make it out. Another year at second best for me. Good turnout and lots of trucks. Made for a long day but no complaints. I am officially done for the year. Although I didn't want to be quite yet, work made that decision for me. Well I didn't think about it until now. The carb I borrowed was off of a running motor, which I had no specs on. I never took the bowls off or looked at the metering blocks. I was wondering if the power valve was not right would it of caused my lack of power on the top end as well as the stumbling. The rpms would climb then fall, climb then fall........ And I am farther off than I was last year i feel. From what I understand this is meaning it is on the edge of extremely lean. Fuel pressure stayed good so that problem is fixed. Also if I get a new carb what do you suggest. According to the holley calculator I should have a 1250, but I am currently running a 1150. If I get one should I get the bigger one? later jenks

Had a good time the other day racing with everyone!! Sorry to hear that you are done for the year!! Well when I have had power valve go out on me, they just wouldn't idle! flubber and die. But when you got into the rpm's they ran fine. Sure wished you'd have found the problems, man it sure has been evasive. More so than any problem I've seen. Yes it was good to see the Tonica crew out there but they are departing for a while to run away from the heat and jumping into the flame!! LOL I wish them the best of luck and hope they have as much fun at the drag strip as they anticipate!
Well sure hope your schedule changes to allow you to come to the Peoria race. If you have a good running carb the cfm's in my opinion is just going to limit the performance not cause any noticable side effects. But if the formula says you need a 1250 I'd sure run a 1250. Last dominator I purchased was from Jesse "BIGGS" it was ok, no problems but I had to send it off and get it worked on to put the real "super tune" on it!!!Not back to Bigg's though!
Maybe we'll see you guys over the winter or something!!

Sorry guy's i didn't reply sooner been really busy. Just enough time to check the boards out but not reply. Home sick last couple of days. It sure was great to hang out with you guys for the day. Jenks gald we finally got to hang out. Man that pit was nasty! I can beleive how many trucks were there the last time we were there there was only about half that many. If i new he was getting that many trucks to come we might not of quite. Just couldn't find a good place to race. Jenks go with the 1250 or bigger. I still think you are run real lean .

i dont know if we are jumping into the flame just seems way more laid back and rules make more sense to me and your not punished for being fast. was nice seeing you guys again maybe we will try to make it out and watch a couple next year

Well the new year is just around the corner. So the thoughts of what to do are starting to stew in my head. I am not loosing sleep over it yet but soon will be.
After finishing second best for the last two years by one measly point. I need to get this thing running right and to its full potential. I need to let all the horses out of the motor not just half. Frankly getting beat in the drags does not make me mad, but getting beat by something that I feel i should be able to compete with a little better makes me upset. If i am the underdog so be it. If I shouldn't be well then it is no fault but my own.
So as I sit here which direction do I turn. Do you guys think that the SV-1 Carb is all that? Or the tried and true dominator. As far as the dominator goes I have a guy that will build it for me who has done many of the professional monster trucks. The SV-1 claims to pick up a few ponies in the end. Ten to 30 from what they claim. The reviews on their site claim nothing less. Of course they will not post the negative reviews. Cost wise it looks like both will run around the same. So I would like to put my money with the best.
As far as rules go, I really don't think it will make all that much of a difference. The overlanders and maybe one or two other tracks does the dominator cause a bump for me. But there are other things too.
So lets just say it all comes down to which is the best? Been reading all day and sounds like old convetional may be the best.
anyone else want to recommend and good carb builders?

SV1 I feel is the poop!! We ran a twice worked over Domintor.
I think the rules will probably settle that an SV1 and Dominator should be at least the same. And the 4150 SV1 should be classified as a 4150 but...
I can see some "no Bogger" tracks adopting a no "SV1" rule all together just because they are scared. They don't understand, it can't afford it, and so it'll be illegal all together. The same mentality that got them the "No bogger rule to begin with"
So I'd stick with someone who can build a good three stage Dominator, if I was going to try to spend smart money that probably won't be restricted...
Just my pennies...

From what I have read the last two days it seems that there is a love hate relationship. The guys that have had luck with them love them, and the guys that haven't hate them. There is a lot of technical bantering back and forth that is way over my head. It sounds like out of the box they are pretty close. Throttle response is better and a little more on the top end. Well knowing from my experience there is staging and WOT. So "drive-ability" isn't really a concern. From what I get most are picking up a tenth in the 1/8 on the asphalt. I might just leave it for the next build or until it is out there a little more.
Going to ditch the old two circuit for a something new and shiny that is for sure, but it won't be shiny for long.

Well lets say that there is a new player in the game. It is a long shot. A really long long shot. What about fuel injection. I can't find anything in the rules saying you can't. Hell if I could pull vacuum I could theoretically run in the stock class, provided the rest of the truck was correct, yada yada yada.
Highly unlikely it will happen as there is only one kit that I have found that will support the hungry chubby. And frankly I know that the wallet wouldn't handle it and the better half would hang or shoot me as I have some other things I could spend that much coin on.
So for sake of argument. Jeff since you are the "king soloman" of the rules, what say ye. GRAY AREA. Or anyone else chime in. I figure Jeff is currently an independent contractor because of the recent hiatus.
My definition - King Soloman - man of great wisson and truf. As well as great knowledge of the rules in many places so I don't have to surf till I am blue in the face. I am already too much of a computer junkie lately.
