Yes RJ was running well but I put the super tune on his truck!! I synced the 4 corner dominator linkage and torqued it to 3 inch pounds, I advanced the first three lobes on his cam, and put on double valve spring spacers. Oh yeas we painted the valve tips with clear fingernail polish also!! ;D
Ok really yes RJ was running real good!! hE DID A GOOD JOB OF DRIVING ALSO. The pit was suppose too be an everyone get stuck so I wanted the wide tires to see if I could get a little farther across the top before getiing stuck but the pit turned out to be just a deep rutted rough pit. I wanted to change the tires after the first pass but hey wouldn't let me so I changed between Super mod and mod. I'd like to thank Dick and his brother for helping out!! They came to spectate and ended up getting muddy helping change tires. Thanks guys for keeping us from getting disqualified!!

Eugene,
The skinny's felt twice as fast and were twice as rough. I'm thinking the skinnys were maybe 2 tenths faster but they were rough enough to break the truck. I really feel the wide ones absorbed enough that we wouldn't have broke.

Jeff
So do you think the skinnys got that much more traction our the track dried out and got faster? looked pretty wet your frist couple of passes. I'm thinking of running wides all the way around this year against my better jugdement.

My philosophy... 80% of our tracks run skinnys. Everyone getting stuck or working real hard to get through go fatties.
But... I plan on using a new set of wides (if I can afford them) for the back only on drag tracks where greasy or loose traction is present on the start. Not sure if it'll work or not. And that's just my thought right now.
I think at that track the skinnies would have kicked butt in every class. As soon as I saw RJ go through I wanted to change tires for the next class but they wouldn't let me so I had to wait until two classes but before I made my first run I saw that it was a skinny track.
Gussies??? May lean towards four fatties. Overlanders probably skinnies!!
That's what I think I know!!

Don't you think that with the wide tires up front they will push to much mud and be hard to keep truck straight?

Heres what i think. drag class wide on back skinnys up front if you have a truck that transfers weight as good as your truck does front tires are not doing much so on the back you need as much tire on the ground as you can get. Bogging its hard to hold your weight transfer because of all the bouncing around so your front is also doing equal work so i think either fat fat or skinny skinny depending on pit. My wide 38s are not as wide as my 35s so i'm thinking of run wide 38s all the way around and see how that works.

Eugene,
That makes sense, I can't disagree with that perspective. Wides all the way around are scary, for sure. And when running narrow ruts that are not deep your still putting wides on the back?
