Dex,
I know your low budget like I am. Last year when I built my exterior loop and support I used real seamless material, shopped around for it, and by the time I had it bent I could have had a whole inside pre-made cage delivered. There are companies out there that (maybe Jegs) that I have seen them delivered for about 300.00 and they are custom for your truck. you just had to weld it up. I bout one that was a takeout of another truck. So I have to cut it apart and weld it back up. But I paid 60.00 for the roll bar.
So I don't recall the exact tube needed and I have heard that the longrove track has already said that some racers professional looking bars are sub-standard and they can't race. So if that's the case that really sucks!!
But any purchased roll cage should be ok!!
Myron, Derrick or Critter on 460 will rattle off exactly what it needs to be but like I said to buy it and have it bent I think will be cashy!!
Let me know what you do!!

If you have a pipe bender then maybe if you shop for material you may be able to do a little better. You guys have a hydraulic bender?

I don't know my gauges when it comes to steel so I don't know if that's good or bad but I know that pre-bent weld up has to be somewhat easy!!
I gotta go drag mine out of the mud and get it cut up and put in.

dex,i believe mine is 1 5/8" tubing and i think .118 thick, you could probably get by with .095 too,oh its either erw or dom, usually unless its chrom moly steel

Rich hit it on the head. Hrew or Dom for the tubing. Hrew will be a lot cheaper than the DOM. I bought my cage from Jegs wich was NHRA compliant and it was HREW. They are not to pricey just have to cut to make them fit. But if you got a bender, let er eat.

yea i was actually thinking 11 gauge 1 1/2 sq tubing which is about .121 for wall thickness but just not sure how it would work i think we are just going to buy a kit and be done its not worth the headache and im lazy
